So, most of my thoughts these days revolve around Merlin (the show, the character, the actor... I'm a little besotted), but recently I've been thinking about the portrayal of magic users in the show, and I came to a conclusion. It's REALLY not all that positive. Uther, while refreshingly complicated and dynamic (due in no small part to the FABULOUS Anthony Stewart Head), really seems to be more right about magic than Merlin is. Let's take a look at the facts.

Also: Holy crap, I wrote a short comment fic! It's been about 5 years since my last one! And I’m working on a full length one! o.O This show has truly taken over my brain.

Anyway! This is a fun game where you have to decide who to throw off a cliff, who to shag and who to marry, and she gave me: Merlin, Ianto Jones, Tenth Doctor.

I don't know what's happened. I've withstood lj and happily been a lurker in fandoms for going on a decade. Harry Potter, Doctor Who, LOTR, POTC, Narnia, a bunch of anime (most especially Hikaru no Go), a lot of popular ones. And while I loved them and devoured fic, I never really wanted to be anything more than a lurker.

And SUDDENLY along comes this silly little show about a WARLOCK and a DRAGON and a PRAT and I'm... just... COMPLETELY BESOTTED. Suddenly I'm commenting on fics and praising people and watching journals and following authors and having more than a vague inclination to write. And one too many people have their journals either f-locked or closed to anonymous postings so I FINALLY just clicked "create journal".

So! Yes! Lj has caught me at last. -_- Oh Merlin, what have you done to me???
